Spring is in the air! After a cold Florida winter, it
is a pleasure to have the grass turning green and
the pool crowded.
The big March SOCHA event is the Yard Sale on
the 27th. This is our biggest fund raiser and
requires a lot of manpower. Don't miss it!
April is full of activities! First off, the Easter
Brunch promises to be a special treat. Come join
Terry Jansen and her crew for an Easter feast.
Next up, Karen Sammons is sponsoring a Tea
Party and Fashion Show.
Lastly, don't miss the Spring Fling put on by the
Board of Directors. Join us poolside for hamburgers,
hot dogs and all the trimmings.
Check the newsletter for details on all of the
activities so you won't miss out on any of the fun.
Get your tickets early for all events which require
them.
The new Board of Directors is functioning as a
very compatible team. It is my pleasure to work
with each and every one of them.
Now that spring is here, the residents will be
outside getting fresh air and exercise. A few
safety reminders:
1. Wear reflective clothing at night and carry a
flashlight.
2. Walk against the traffic
3. The speed limit in the park is 15 miles per
hour.
Until next month.
Health and Happiness,
Nancy Dougherty

meeting and I’ll look into it further.
MY LAST CHANCE
Many years ago I became aware of the urgent need for
organ donations. I had a friend who for most of the
years I knew her carried around an arsenal of pills to
keep her alive while waiting for a liver transplant. I
located someone in Gainesville who was involved in
the program, and she offered to come to talk to us for
10 minutes about it. either on Saturday morning, or at
our monthly meeting. As required, I presented the idea
in writing to our Board. This was the reply: "No, people
our age aren't interested in hearing about that". I was
stunned, and gave up.
Years have passed. My friend Millie died a year ago. No
liver available, and hers finally failed.. So now I urge
you, if you haven't already done so, please consider
taking that one simple step. Your signature alone might
be enough to save not just one, but several lives.
Brochures are still in the library for your information.
I meant to do this a long time ago, and now I'm about to
leave. I hope to come back for 2 or 3 months in 2011 if
there's a house available for rent in Saddle Oak . I will
miss you all. It's been a great 21 years here.

Thank you’s
Thank you Thank you all!
I would like to thank Pete, Joanne & Jim for a great
party and a great thanks to all residents and gifts that I
received from all of you and also to the ones that didn’t
make the party. Will see you all around the park.
Thanks again. Al Stacy
Thank You from Jim and Fran Fritz
One Saturday morning a while back Terry Dolan and
Sandy Pelchat showed up at our door holding two
beautiful quilted throws for us. The quilters had put
these together for us as they do for many people.
What a thrill it was to be amongst the lucky people who
have received one. Jim’s is done in dark colored
squares, some plain and some printed, with a dark
blue masculine print for the back. Mine is done in
pastel plain and printed squares with a flowered blue
back.
We would like to thank everyone in the quilting group
who worked on these throws and to Terry and Sandy
for delivering them.
Jim and Fran Fritz
VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH
The volunteer of the month is John Record. Wonderful
job on putting out the Saddle Oak Phone Book. John
helps anyone he can. Gives great advice and always
pitches in to help with projects. But let us not forget,
behind good man is a great woman (Joan).
Keep up
the good work, John.
What I See From My Window
by Marj Banczak
This roving reporter has done no recent roving, and has
been housebound as I recover from various afflictions.
So, I sit by the window and watch the world go by.
The mocking birds are back to reclaim their territory.
With a proprietary attitude they skydive into my holly
tree, "reading a chapter" to the resident squirrels.
My neighbor Ingrid is landscaping with fountains, white
fences and wind chimes. Looking good, Ingrid.
Jim Fritz takes a stroll with his walker. So good to see
him out and about.
A flock of crows soar close by my window as I listen to
their raucous conversation. They have kept me company
all winter as they claim their territory and strut across
my lawn.
UPS makes its delivery, wasting no time at it.
As the weather warms, the traffic increases. Out are the
walkers, the bikes and golf carts. Everyone enjoying the
warm sunshine.
Today the rain comes down in sheets, giving the lawns
a thorough soaking. With warm weather approaching
they will be green again.
The Crime Watch car is making its rounds. We thank
these people for helping us feel safe and secure.
Days are getting longer as we return to Daylight Saving
Time. What a fuss! I hate setting all the clocks, to say
nothing of my body rhythm. But then, nobody asked me.
The birds and squirrels will always be there, but I'm tired
of being here near the window.
My hope is that I will be over what's ailing me so I can
go back to civilization. I am, after all, a social animal.
JOB HUNT
1. My first job was working in an Orange Juice factory,
but I got canned. Couldn't concentrate.
2. Then I worked in the woods as a Lumberjack, but
just couldn't hack it, so they gave me the axe.
3. After that, I tried being a Tailor, but wasn't suited
for It -- mainly because it was a sew-sew job.
4. Next, I tried working in a Muffler Factory, but
that was too exhausting.
5. Then, tried being a Chef - figured it would add a l
little spice to my life, but just didn't have the thyme.
6. Next, I attempted being a Deli Worker, but any
way I sliced it... couldn't cut the mustard.
7. My best job was a Musician, but eventually I
found I wasn't noteworthy.
8. I studied a long time to become a Doctor, but
didn't have any patience.
9. Next, was a job in a Shoe Factory.. Tried hard but
just didn't fit in.
10. I became a Professional Fisherman, but
discovered I couldn't live on my net income.
11. Managed to get a good job working for a Pool
Maintenance Company, but the work was just
too draining.
12. So then I got a job in a Workout Center, but they
said I wasn't fit for the job.
13. After many years of trying to find steady work, I
finally got a job as a Historian - until I realized
there was no future in it.
14. My last job was working in Starbucks, but had to
quit because it was the same old grind.
15. SO, I TRIED Retirement AND FOUND I'M
PERFECT FOR THE Job!!!!!!!
Marie
