August is upon us and it’s hotter than you can
imagine.
But think about it for a moment. September follows then October. Up north October could mean snow in some states and maybe we’ll cool off here in Florida.
Well the 4th of July event was a great success as well as the
Father’s Day Ice Cream Social.
The Golf Cart Parade
was also a lot of fun and more of a turnout than expected!
August looks to be a slow month with only a Pot Luck Dinner and a Pork Roast Dinner
being planned. More information in the Newsletter. Check the club house for sign up sheets.
Other than that I don’t know of any other planned activities.
Don’t forget the Thursday night game night!
Once again thanks to Irene & Bill Kramer for the many ads that help support our monthly newsletter.
We should all check the newsletter before we go to the yellow pages. There are all kinds of services advertised. Use these services and don't forget to mention
Saddle Oak Club.
Be careful and have a safe August.

ARTS & CRAFTS
-- Angie Bauman
Its amazing talent to see how Kathy Smith can make the clutch purses and handbags from plastic disposable shopping bags. Just folding flat, cutting off the top and bottom - doubling and cutting one inch strips which are rolled into a ball and crocheted together to form a sturdy handbag with handle.
When her husband, Jim, came to vacation and brought her red, white & blue T-shirts, Kathy cut them into 1" strips and made a patriotic purse for the 4th of July! Come to see her work at Friday Crafts in August from 1 to 3 PM at the clubhouse and bring your Publix, Walgreen, Winn-Dixie, or even your daily newspaper bags in yellow - it only takes three bags to make a soap dish.
Ruth Graber and her daughter, Susan Kelly, have donated all their Red Hat accessories to anyone interested.
They have their houses for sale and are moving into a Condo at On Top of the World.
Sorry to see them go.

Notes from “Up North”
By Marj Banczak
Life moves slowly in Wild Rose, Wisconsin. We watch the corn grow and flowers bloom in the yard. As we drive the narrow roads wild turkeys and foolish young deer cross in front of us demanding territorial rights.
The beautiful tree lined winding highways take us to many small towns in the area. In towns such as Rural, Weyauwega, Poy Sippi and Saxeville we find antique stores, boutiques, ice cream shops and lovely little restaurant called the “Freckled Frog”.
On a days ride to the Amish country we find fresh vegetables and bakery. A boat trip on the “Chain of Lakes” shows us the natural beauty of Wisconsin in summertime. Lets not forget the famous Wisconsin Friday night fish fries. None like it anywhere.
We spend time bird watching as we sit on the deck with our morning coffee (if it is not too cool)!
Children, grandchildren and great grandchildren fill our weekends. Our annual family reunion was held with its hugs, food and the usual raucous entertainment.
Yes, its been a good summer thus far, but unusually cool. Todays high will be a record low of 61 degrees, but who is complaining?
Hello to everyone, I’ll return in late August. Nancy and Mike in mid-October. Miss you!
