“Like a Wind in the Willows”
By Marj Banczak
Like a Wind in the Willows, time passes quickly. Where have the last 23 years gone? The time has been pleasantly spent with friends and neighbors in Saddle Oak.
Many of us helped form Saddle Oak. It was a delight. But now we are getting past our prime, moving on to homes with our children, assisted living because, of course, we can no longer live alone. Hogwash! Well, maybe we will fall, not eat properly? Can we do our own laundry? I guess it’s time….
That leaves Saddle Oak to newer, younger residents. May you pick up the banner and proceed with your programs, your involvement and your support.
We, the older generation, wish you well! May you enjoy Saddle Oak as much as we have. Some of us may still be here, but not actively involved in community activities. It is now up to the new residents. I bid you well!

"A Salute"
A big Veteran's Day "Salute" goes out to all who volunteered to help with the Veteran's Day Pancake breakfast. Jerry Johnston, Toots Lobe, Jo Gearin, Karen Sammons and Ingrid MCourry cooked breakfast and served with the help of Katherine Sitkowski. Grace Spiller and Kathy Smith graciously volunteered to deliver meals to our homebound residents. Lee Lantz collected tickets that were sold by Tony and Ginger Pace. Thanks, also, to Bill Evans, who opened the clubhouse at the crack of dawn so we could start flipping pancakes. Thank you to Dorothea Wiley for stepping up to sell 50/50 tickets. If we have forgotten anyone, please forgive us! Mike and Nancy Dougherty
First Christmas Dinner
The day of the first Christmas dinner started out as a very lovely day. The tables were decorated in all their splendor and the smell
of ham filled the air at the clubhouse. Residents started filing in and sitting at their tables. Grace was said and then the ham was served. Everybody seemed to enjoy their meals. Then we had the grab bag party. Most people stayed…even if they didn’t bring a gift, to see what others received. Then everyone cleaned up their area, which was greatly appreciated. You could not have asked for a better group of volunteers. They were tired but still had smiles on their faces. I want to thank everybody who came to dine and to my volunteers. Merry Christmas to all and a healthy, happy New Year! God Bless. Toots Lobe
…..AND MORE THANKS!

Many thanks also for the get well card and gift certificate to Publix from the Saturday Morning Coffee folks.
