JUNE 2011 NEWSLETTER

Letter from the president.....

Here it is....June. Our friends and neighbors have gone north, our friends and relatives that visited during Spring break and Easter have gone back home. It is just "us" to get through the lazy hazy days of summer!!! I try not to ever complain about the heat as our neighbors to the north of us have endured such terrible tragedy, devastation and loss of life, the Midwest is having bad floods, Texas is having fires in so much of the state. We are very lucky and must be thankful for the great weather we have been having....as Luther states every morning when we get up and open the blinds....another beautiful day in Florida!

Those of us on the newsletter committee are struggling some as we try to find things to put in the newsletter. The summer months are less active so we are always looking for things...we welcome any suggestions you might have. As I sit here at my computer in my room of windows looking out at people walking, working in their yards, riding around in their golf carts, visiting with their neighbors and watching squirrels dig holes in our yard we feel very lucky to have landed in Saddle Oak. I hope you all feel the same.

That is all for this month, please be kind to your friends and neighbors,

Tammie

BITS AND PIECES

JUNE VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH

This month the volunteer is a dedicated group - Dorthea Wiley, Janet Saeva, Mary Godwin, Phyllis Condon, Gene Heinz, and then, of course, the callers: Tammy Hornsby, Tony Pace, Don Godwin and our newest caller, Claudia. Also, we have a kitchen crew serving up coffee and cake: Bonnie Armitage, Irene Kramer, and Sandy Pelchat. So you can see it takes a lot of volunteers to have our Bingo. To all of you volunteers: "Thank you!"

THANK YOU, AND YOU AND YOU!!!

Thank you to all my friends and neighbors for their kindness and help during this difficult time Thanks also to the Association for the lovely card and check. It was greatly appreciated. Mary Willard

***************************************

I would like to thank all our friends and neighbors in Saddle Oak for their caring and concern for my husband Walt during his illness and passing. I would like to thank everyone for their cards and prayers and phone calls and the Association for their gift. Lorraine Daugherty and Family

Saddle Oak Friends: Thank you for all your support, cards and donations made to the Collie League of New England. He loved his collies - he had three. Thank you also for the donations to the Diamond Blackfan Anemia Foundation in our son's memory. Without their continued research he would not have reached his 50th birthday. Amos and our entire family got a lot of support and strength from your messages of concern and condolences. It is great to have so many great friends support us when we were in need. Sincerely, Amos and Kathy Kentfield.

***************************************

A big Thank You to all the volunteers who helped to make the Mothers Day Breakfast such a success. The tables were decorated so beautifully by Kay Fiedler & Mike and Nancy Dougherty who continue to help make the events run so smoothly. Also, Vi Simmes, Donna Frakes, Katherine Sitkowski and Jim Otto. Thanks to all of you for your dedication. Don't forget, Father's Day is right around the corner if anyone cares to volunteer.

***************************************

Marty and I wish to thank all of you who sent cards, telephoned and or visited me while I was hospitalized at West Marion, where it was discovered that I had cancer in both lungs, my liver as well as my left leg. I began chemo treatment at Ocala Oncology. A few days later I was sent to Ocala Regional as I had picked up an infection; from there I was sent to Timberidge for rehab. We wish to give a very special thanks to our friends and neighbors, Ken and Linda Banks: the almost daily visits sure were appreciated. Ken and Linda were at our beck and call 24/7 taking care of any problem Marty had while I was away. They are the true essence of what good friends and neighbors are meant to be. Again, thanks from the bottom of our hearts! Bill and Marty Wyllie.
