Where did the summer go...I can't believe it is November and we are thinking about Thanksgiving and Christmas. We have had so many fun events in September and October with many more to go throughout the holiday season. I try to talk about all of these events on Saturday morning but for those of you who don't go to coffee and donuts we are going to add a page called... "Save The Date".
With all of our residents planning events it is easy to miss things that are on the calendar so we will put the dates on a separate page so you can mark your calendars. Details of the events are included in the flyers that are also in the newsletter and posted on the events wall at the clubhouse.
As I travel around the community it is nice to see familiar faces of those who have been gone this summer. To those of you who have returned..."welcome home" and to those of you preparing to return...hurry home...the more the merrier!!!!!!
Our "community puzzle" in the library ended up on the floor this past week. Many people enjoy working on the puzzle and I want to hold on to the hope that it was an accident. I would certainly hate to think that anyone would ever do anything that mean spirited on purpose. So let's hope that it never happens again. For those of you who are working to put it back together again...thank you!
From time to time I like to remind everyone about all the wonderful volunteers we have living here at Saddle Oak. If it wasn't for those volunteers we would not have a newsletter full of events to choose from...many thanks to each and every one of you!!!!!
Whatever your plans are for Thanksgiving this year-whether it be with your family or your friends here at Saddle Oak-may you have a wonderful day and have plenty of turkey to eat!!!!
Luther and I wish you a great November and look forward to seeing you around the neighborhood!

A Community Large Screen TV
This is to let the community know that a committee has been formed with one goal, to raise money to buy a Large Screen TV for the Clubhouse. We are thinking with a large screen we could have many social and healthy events to benefit all of us. We plan on raising the money through donations and fun(d)raising events. The little "blue" TV box will be in the Clubhouse every Saturday morning and at Bingo for donations. The more we all work together the bigger the TV! In advance, thank you for attending future TV fundraisers.
Sincerely, Claudia Janis, Chairman
A Big Thank You
A Thank You to all my friends and neighbors that made my 90th birthday a wonderful success! I don't remember ever being more surprised or happier!
The food and everything else was great. And how about that little guy running around with the balloons? (He is my great grandson). I would like to be able to greet each of you but maybe it is even better to do it this way so I don't miss anyone!
Thanks to all of you once again and by the way, my home is always ready to welcome anyone anytime! Hope to see you! Drop in!
Love to all!

Memorial for Caryl Miller
Fran Fritz
The memorial service for Caryl Miller was held on September 18, 2011 at 2:30 PM in the clubhouse.
Family members in attendance were Judith Miller and Kathy Webber (sister in law).
Thanks to Grace Spiller, Jeanne Kozlowski and Jean Stephens (the other ladies on the Bereavement Committee) for their help. Also, thanks goes to Linda and Jim Otto, Marge Putka and Katherine Sitkowski for helping with the set up and clean up before and after the memorial. We want to thank Kathy Webber for saying the prayer and for giving a presentation of Caryl's life. The other people to thank are Linda McIntosh, Sandy Pelchat and another lady in attendance for the beautiful poems they read. Our Association President was in attendance to help and our Kitchen Chairperson was available to do her part. Thank you to Tammie Hornsby and Claudia Janis.
I have served on this committee three different periods over the years that I have lived here and I do say that this was the nicest memorial I have ever worked on. Everything went so smooth and we had the guests wait after the prayer before they got their refreshments which turned out nice. We are going to do this for future memorials. Thank you everyone for your cooperation and for your attendance.
From Judith Miller - "Dear Fran, Please thank everyone for the wonderful memorial for my husband, Caryl. The cake was beautiful and I know he would have loved it. Everything went so well. Again, thank you from my heart"
(This note will be on the board at the clubhouse)
Bereavement Notice for Rita M. Schoof
My Mama, Rita M. Schoof, passed from this world into Heaven to be with our Lord and all the loved ones waiting to greet her at 2:19am on October 12, 2011. My Mama is survived by myself Denise D. Kovac, oldest daughter, Ronald L. Steinman, middle son, and Sheryl L. Evans, youngest daughter. She was blessed with four Grandchildren, Rhonda Lynn, Adam Nicholas, Candice Marie, and Lois Olivia. She was blessed again with two Great-Grandchildren Gabriel Wesley, and Skylar Elaine. Mama's brother Robert P. McLeod and Debra Alice Landsman are Mama's surviving siblings.
I cannot thank you enough my sweet Saddle Oak residents who signed the card when Mama first went into the hospital. She was able to read it and such a smile came over her face.
For the residents that have known Mama for the last twenty-six years thank you for the cards and food and love. A special thanks goes out to Mrs. Fran Fritz and Mrs. Grace Spiller for meeting with me today, and making my heart full with their memories and kindness.
In closing the check that was given to help in this hour of need was beyond any love I have felt from loving souls I have yet to meet. I wish you all of God’s Blessings and am here for all…God Bless and much love, Rita’s family.
